neptune ?'s
Hello, just got a 00 gsr yesterday its boosted and tuned using a pr4/demon/Neptune setup,
I want to view the current map first and foremost .... and make some adjustments due to a slight problem with the car wanting to stall when coming off boost(clutch pushed in, beginning to slow down),,,, and eventually build a secondary map for the sole purpose of mpgs( first I need to learn much more)
I downloaded the RTP for Neptune , but I cant seem to get it to connect to my cars ecu.
I have two usb cords entering my glove box, one comes from a usb port connected to the ecu, the other is a usbconnected to a old school serial port that continues towards the ecu(I can confirm it connects to the ecu if I need to, but i'd rather n ot cut a bunch of zipties lol), not sure if I need to connect one, the other, or both to my laptop at the same time?
the Neptune software on my laptops seems to open and run properly but it dosnt "connect" to my ecu
personally I believe it is some type of driver issue(software, not me, perhaps both lol)
any help/links/nice guys who live nearby(ft riley ,ks and would like to help my noob self, would be greatly appreciated
ust looking for some tutorials, etc
im not computer illiterate
nor car illiterate but when you combine the two it gets a bit sketchy for me ;p

Make sure you have set the correct port number in preferences. It should be the same as whatever com# the demon shows up as in the devices tab of your control panel. Make sure you have internet connection when you connect for the first time so that NepTune can look up the serial number and make sure your board is licensed. It only needs to do this once.
Lastly, head over to the Hrtuning website, sign up for the support forum, and watch the provided YouTube videos on getting started. James has done an excellent job and goes out off his way to keep his users fully supported.
Edit: you also need the ftdi drivers, but NepTune normally reminds you of that on launch if you haven't installed them yet.

actually im having another problem, ill prbly give h r tuning a call in the morning to try and figure it out, but anyways, when I get it hooked uo it tells me my demond firmware is out of date, I then downloaded the moates updater, but the firmware that it downloads apparently isn't supported by my demon, im assuming this is answer to my next question
I cant touchany of the paramaters ie : rev limiters, boost control, security (foot pedal password) ... is this because Neptune is sensing my deom firmware is out of date and is blocking me from adjusting them ? they are the parameter fields are gray and im unable to change them.

No. I didn't update my firmware for a month or two and was able to keep tuning. When you connect to the demon, click on the buttons in your toolbar to download the base code and calibration. You should then have access.
