Default speed sensor problems

alright I have a 94 ej1 with the d16z6 in it with the long gear hydro tranny. originally I thought the speed sensor was bad because it would flutter while driving. so I replaced it but it still did the same thing and now it wrapped around completely and it stuck under the rest pin at the bottom. any ideas what could be the issue?

Default Re: speed sensor problems

The capacitor responsible for smoothing out the input for speedo amplifier has lost its ability to hold a significant charge. Replacing the cluster is the option most people choose to fix this type of problem. One of the most common tell tale signs is fluttering at lower speeds, and as the vehicle speed increases, it tends to be barely noticeable.

Did the needle wrap around all the way? Reset the needle manually and if it recurs, replace the cluster, as the speedo amp is broken.
