Default The Best Cams?

Is there such a thing as the best cams for a type R? The applications are a Type One Titan exhaust, AEM CAI, reprogrammed ECU, Spoon flywheel and upgraded valves and pistons and valve springs. This is for a race car, streetable isnt an option. Power increase throughout the whole powerband would be nice, but top end is where the car will spend most of its time. Toda, JUN, Spoon, what would you guys choose as the best Cams for a race Type R?

This isn't for my CRX, but for my dad's '97 Type R, I dont really think price will be a big issue. If we are gonna spend that much money, we might as well go full out!

Why get the AEM? And also why run the T1R exhaust? Those are all restrictive if you are going all out.

The AEM was our first mod, we are looking into an Ice Box, but can't really justify spending another wad of cash for a couple HP. What do you suggest replacing the T1R for? we got it for free, so i dont think you can beat that.

Yeah, since it was free just stick with it. But if you are going full race, check out the Amuse Ti exhaust.

Turbo doesnt really work for what we're doing, hour long road races. Also, they arent allowed.

To get the most out of your new set of cams you should invest your money in a hondata. Your current modifications can be taken out to increase more hp but will cost more money. Spoon doesn't make a real aggressive cam. Their cams are similar to the Toda Racing spec A cams. If you want one that will make the most hp you can't go wrong with either skunk2 stage 3, JUN stage 3, or Toda Racing B cams. All the cams will make power all the way to 9k and with a new header you should be able to reach the 200whp mark. For the header you can't go wrong with either toda, smsp, or hytech.

Yes, Skunk stage 1's. I hit 200whp and 136lbs of tq this weekend with the exhaust bolted on and 11.3 compression. And it's not just pk hp either. When I unbolt the exhaust for tuning I expect more.

"what are all your mods?"

11.3 SRP pistons, stage 1's, i,h,e no p/s or a/c belts, Kenji's ecu with a vafc, JDM FD that made me lose 6 hp on the dyno and tuning.

first you port the head and get flow numbers, then determine static compression ratio, then you get the header made, then get the cams cut to work, Toda Racing ahs the variety for all types of ports including with ITBs, manifold or simply full race port.

dont get cams first, get them last.

Vtec Killer cams are for non vtec motors. There was something a little while ago about Toda Spec D cams. Don't know if it was true or not but if you search you can find out more info.
