Default GSR YS1 VSS problem. Cable NOT broken, speedo wont read.

I've been tinkering with my car all day and slowly trying to fix its many issues with help from this site, and decided to make a post all of its own for this particular issue. My speedo is not reading speed, my CEL is on for VSS, and my VTEC is not engaging.

I have tried a few things:

Pulled cable out of tranny and hooked up to electric drill and had GF watch the gauge. The speedo gauge DID register speed when I spun the drill.

I then made sure cable was COMPLETELY pushed into the tranny, until it clicked. I then taped the cable down to make sure it wouldnt come out. (TEMPORARY measure so that I could test if it worked without it popping out; I no longer have the metal C clip to hold it in). Then drove around a bit, but speedo did not register any speed.

Is the gear-driven VSS in the YS1 Transmission broken? Is there a good way to pull it out and check for sure? Is there an easier/cheaper way to purchase a replacement without going through an acura dealership?

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips!

That clip is very important but go ahead and take out the vss and inspect it.. its just that one 10mm bolt and it pulls out. Try to find one at a junk yard if its bad. Also when reinstalling, don't over tighten. That bracket on the vss for the 10 mm bolt breaks very easily

I pulled out the vss and spun it by hand. It feels really gritty to turn, and feels like it needs to be oiled. Could this have to do with the fact that I do not have Power Steering fluid lines running to it? My car does not have power steering. The part inside that would turn the cable DOES spin though.

UPDATE: New cable and clip installed. CEL is off and Speedo registers speed, but it gets stuck around 30mph, even when I'm going about 60. Also wobbles a bit. Will upload video later.

Failed amp in the instrument cluster. The wobble is from a failed capacitor in the same circuit. Replace the cluster.
