Default Aftermarket Rod and Piston: B16A

I have a B16A block. I was thinking of reusing the stock rods and using PCT pistons. After inspecting the rods, one is bent..................

I am looking to have compression between 12:0 to 13:0. I know this is really determined with piston and head. (combustion chamber)

The rods, they'll be going on a polished B16A crank. I just want OEM reliability. Recommendations of rod bearings and rods would be very appreciated.

So I wanted to know what aftermarket piston and rods do you recommend for this block?

Wiseco's on Eagles are well priced right now. If youre looking to spend a bit more, then look into CP's on Carillo's.

I will research on these then. I was not sure of any aftermarket parts that shared the reliability as OEM. Thanks.

Also, seeing as wanted to install CTR pistons on P30 rods, I researched that the P30 rod had to the be shaved down because the piston skirts would hit.. Would I run into this issue on aftermarket rod and aftermarket pistons?

When purchasing bearings, is it a universal fit? Like, after inspection, I noticed the color bearing for both my rod bearings and main bearings.

Ordering a set of ACLs, would any set be compatible?

Are race bearings as reliable as OEM as far as wearing, strength, etc.?

i would use std rod with pct pistons, its proven that theyre working quit well
my 190whp B16 combo is still running strong for about 30.000km and reving it to 9600 rpm.
Stock Rods are more than capable for all motor b16 Builds
just upgrade them with ARP rodbolts, get the resized and youre fine.

all you have to do with std b16 rods is this

ACL race bearings are also fine just make sure you get the right clearances done
i did mine 0.0015.

Heres a link to my build https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/aarons-190whp-b16a-build-3074210/

you can pm me if you need any help with your build

I see your build. Nice. I currently can not view any of the photos because I am on a workplace computer. You build seems very similar to the build I had in mind.

The bearings are will be good as long as the clearances are done correctly. You would determine this by which methods?

I ask because I do not know if the ACL bearings comes as a one size set that must be machined.... I would go to the website and answer my questions but my home computer does not work, and this workplace computer does not allow access to any other website really.

I was wondering, could you run PCT or GS-R/ITR rods in a B16A block?

B16a/crank/block = B16a conrods
You can run GSR/ITR rods on a B16B crank as the big ends are the same width but in a b16a block you would need custom pistons.

Just keep in mind the length of the ITR/GSR rods on that crank will create lower compression numbers as Uncle Dave addressed with his "custom piston" comment. BIG domes

B16B crank stroke=77.40mm and Rods=142.30mm
GSR/ITR crank stroke=87.20mm and Rods=137.90mm

just to make things clear
dave ment that you can run GSR or ITR Rods in a B16 Block
but you will need Custom Pistons with Raised wristpins and shortend skirts.

Stock B16a rods are 134mm long
ITR/GSR Rods are 137.90mm long

so running ITR Rods with PCT pistons will not work because the pistons will
stick out of the B16a block for about 3.35mm.

Just run the std b16 ones mill them on each side of the small end and put some PCT Pistons on it. its cheap and will work perfekt in a B16A

And for the bearings you can check them with a dial bore gauge and a micrometer screw gauge.
and for double checking you can use plastigage

Try it first with the STD ones do some measurements and after that
maybe you will need the under or oversized ACL Bearings
