Default 1995 Honda Accord Wagon-Cranks, won't turn over.

I have a 1995 Honda Accord that has just recently in the past week started an intermittent issue.
I went out to start it last Monday and it would crank but wouldn't turn over when attempting to key start it. I tried it five times to no avail.
Called the tow truck because I was just going to take it to the shop, tried to start it again after waiting 45 minutes and it started right up.
It smelled like it had flooded, the gas scent was very heavy, but it started and the idle was what I expected, it shifted easy like typical, I went ahead and cancelled the tow truck and took it immediately to the shop.

Explained what it had done to the mechanic, he said that he would take a look at it.
For the past week, they have went out and started it 3-5 times a day, it'll start right up except on Friday evening, they decided to try it again and it finally wouldn't start for them.

They checked the plugs, boot wires, the distributor, all have great spark.
The alternator is in great shape, I learned that when I had to replace the battery three weeks ago.
It is not the fuel pump, the fuel filter, the fuel lines or injectors.
It throws no error codes.

They left it overnight expecting that it wouldn't start on Saturday morning. They were wrong, it started right up Saturday morning like there was never an issue. He stated that black smoke came out of the tailpipe and it smelled like it had been flooded even sitting overnight.

I have looked at several posts where this could be a sensor, an ignition sensor? But I just wanted to know if anyone else might have any ideas to pinpoint what this could possibly be.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Are you using oem honda spark plug wires and cap and rotor? Have you ever replace them ?
If they are honda wires there is a date on the wire if they are the same year to the car i would replace them and distributor cap and rotor

The other thing that it could be your ignition switch

Could be several things.
If the mechanic is internet savvy give him this link http://techauto.tripod.com/ and see what he has tested.
