Default corrosion on ss welds

Hello, this is not really car related, or maybe it is, but lets discuss it anyway....
i heard somewhere that if your weld turns gray it will probablly rust is this right? im kinda concerned because i'll be making a ss fence for a friend of mine and i don't want it to start rusting in a few day/months/years, so help me out here

heres something else i was making today, lets not focus on the welds they are not really pretty but they will hold and thats the main thing, but lest discuss colors on these two pices. in my opinion left one probablly wouldn't rust, but what about the right one?

and P.S: excuse my english it's not really my native language

thank you in advance for your information

Both welds will hold, but the sugared one on the right didn't see adequate gas coverage while welding.

if you get stainless too hot while welding and it grays it will lose it's anti corrosive properties to some degree

Its called carbide precipitation, anytime you weld too hot or mis-use stainless (like say, using 304 for turbo headers) you'll eventually lose all of the chromium to it bonding with carbon in the steel.

Even if you cheat and use a higher nickel(312) or higher chromium(309) rod, you still get carbide precipitation in the HAZ and are back to square one.
