Default Could head warp without the gasket ripping?

The head was taken out. The gasket was in good condition. But certainly, I had sweet smell in the tail pipe, and coolant in the gaps on the cylinder block.

It's my first time, so, I was wondering the "blown head gasket" term still applies here. This is a used car, so, I wonder this multi-layer shape is from an after market gasket, not the OEM?

I want to straighten things out. It causes confusion for a beginner.

Brief car history: bought six months ago. Had overheat for about 5-10 minutes to the max temp gauge three months ago. Started having sweet smell about two months ago.

P.s. The block was measured fine for warp with newly bought carpenter's ruler at HomeDepot up to the thinnest level of the thickness gauge set, which was less than 0.2 mm.

Just take the head to the machine shop to get it leveledand get an oem or felpro head gasket.

It's more common for the head to be the one that's warped.

It'd be kind of difficult to determine if a gasket is OEM, cometic, felpro, etc;

You mean the water jacket? There's supposed to be coolant there.

Fel-Pro is easy to figure out, they always have some sort of an identifier. OEM and KP Gasket Co. look basically identical, I'm not sure about Cometic.

:It's stock.
Anyway, I'm milling the head, and see what's gonna come out.

I'm guessing the gasket was just strong enough to resist the heat while the head warped : best scenario.

Maybe other reason for sweet smell in the tail pipe? haha
