Hello, I was looking at some options for a tach to add to my 1996 civic DX. I have looked into swapping out the dash from an ex or other model with a tach but wanted to keep the car as original as possible in case of a sale so there are no questions about incorrect mileage. I have came across the Scangauge II which gives many options in one package like RPM, MPG, Diagnostics and more in case you didn't know. They claim it works on any OBD2 car or truck 96 and newer. My civic is a 96 and OBD2 so it should work. My question for you guys is, does anybody have experience with a product like this with civics? Do they work accurately with our cars? I have a scangauge, cant remember if its a 2 or not, has been on my f150 for yrs and only issue i have ever had was it blew fuse to dash and obd 2 port once and has never done it again.

Cant say what it would do on my civic, may install it tonight

 

why not just get an ex cluster and put your original speedo head on it?

the scangauge should work fine.

 

I am expecting my Scangauge2 to arrive in the mail this week. I will be installing it in my 99 DX. i got it for monitoring and logging MPG, but the tach feature will more than likely stay on the main display screen too.

I'll report back in the coming weeks with some impressions.

 

I have thought about the ex cluster and putting my speedo head in it but like I said it never came with a tach and if I tried to sell it it would not be original and be a PITA to change it if I sold it. Also the MPG logging and other diag. features that the scangauge features would be nice.
