Canadian 94 dx coupe auto - Does the d15 have vtech?
Hey all, im new to the whole honda scene and i have a curious question. I have a Canadian 94 dx coupe d15 auto. And i wanted to know if i had a vtech motor and or how to find out if i do, thanks everyone.
VTEC or non-VTEC****
If it's a DX, and it's all stock no modifications at all it has no VTEC.
Valve covers, intake manifolds, cylinder heads are mostly interchangeable so these aren't good signs of reference to find out if your car has VTEC or not.
The best way is to see if there's a VTEC Solenoid. If you don't got it, you don't got VTEC.

If you want VTEC, do a 'mini-me' swap by swapping a VTEC head such as the D16Z6 or D16Y8 heads, do a complete motor swap. Or sell your car and get another one.
note: for 96-00 Civic's the DX models were always considered base models, and didn't have VTEC. It was the HX (VTEC-E for better Gas mileage), EX in US/SI in Canada (highest trim with power accessories and VTEC D16Y8), SI in US/SiR in Canada came with B16
