Default Integra Thermostat Problem!!

I just installed a new Honda Genuine thermostat (19301-PAA-306) on my integra automatic 1997 LS, but it goes 3/4 of the way in the temperature gage, normal is on 1/3. Is there something I am missing?

Is this the right part?

I turned it off once it was heading past the middle mark. No leaking.

After I installed the thermostat and the temp switch (o'reilly's part), I filled the radiator until it was topped-off and let the radiator cap open to bleed. However, the car started to rev funny automatically, so I turned it off. Then I turned it back on and the temp still didn't stay cool, it slowly headed to hott.

When it was heating up did the fans ever turn on? Did you touch the hoses to see if they were boiling hot or just warm? Did you bleed the system with the heater on? Was it heating up before you changed the thermostat?

They did not. The top hose was hott, the lower house is cold. I did not bleed the system with the heater on.

Before I changed it, the temp started to go half way, unusual because its always about 1/4 of the way in the temp gauge, so decided to replace it.

Maybe I did not bleed it correctly??? I am a noob.

You need to let the fans come on twice with the heater on I recommend jacking the front up. As it's common knowledge air rises so by jacking the front up you allow all the air to exit. it's a pita to do but is required

So basically raise the car from the front and turn heater on?

After I installed the new thermostat the fans never came on, even when its was going past the middle mark.

Ok, the switch is new (o'reilly's part) , the reason I put a new one is because I rather do it now as opposed to later on, makes it less work.

How do I do jump of the fan switch? Noob here, lol.

Both the switch and thermostat looked like the original dealer ones, I don't think they were ever replaced.

Yeah that'll test if they're in working order. I think you can even turn the key to the second click with out starting it and turn the ac on and that should make the fans turn on also.

Are you sure you put the thermostat in the correct facing way?

Do I leave the radiator cap off when I raise the car and turn the heater on?

The way I saw it in the manual was, you turn it half way and then let the car run till the fans cycle twice.

Apparently, the coolant was not circulating to the engine, I disconnected the hose from the radiator to the block and poured it until full. That fixed the problem, but a week later the temperature gauge fluctuated weird ( went from normal to very cold very fast). Whats is causing this. Its a dealer thermostat?

New parts can be DOA.

If the rad fan is not turning on then eiter the engine is not getting hot enough or the fan circut is not working.

Do as suggested, jump the ECT switch plug.

There are three (3) ECT "switchs", the ECT switch, [for rad fan] the ECT sensor, [engine temp. info to ECU/ECM] and the ECT sending unit, [engine temp. info to temp. gauge.

Which one did you change? 94
