Default f23 harmonic balancer trouble

So I am trying to remove the harmonic balancer from my f23a block its going in my 2002 accord ex and I have the Honda balancer holder tool and I cannot get the center bolt to move at all am using breaker bars and no luck. I might also add that the motor is not in vehicle and no transmission is connected to it not sure if that makes any difference. Its just kicking my butt and I am unsure when I look it up it looks like it should not be this difficult. I broke a breaker bar. Any help or pointers would be awesome thanks.

If it hasn't been off in a long time it will be hard. Take out the spark plugs. Use a half inch ratchet. Use a cheater metal pipe over the ratchet. Or better yet find someone with a very powerful impact gun or battery impact gun. I assume you're using a 19mm metric socket. It's best to actually have a jack directly underneath the socket so that you can jump/bounce on the cheater pipe lol You want the socket as straight as possible for maximum leverage.

just throwing ideas out there

But "holmes" the engine it not in the car.

OP - two large friends with the breaker bars and "pipe" - have the "bars" set at about 45 to each other and them have the large guys push at each other - in the proper direction of course.

I say large guys as I'm 145 wet with clothes on....so I have to buy expensive air tools and/or long pipes to get "things" to happen.

Heat (propane) might help.....I'd replace the crank seal if you go that way. Cold might help as well - CRC freeze off?

If the engine isn't in the car then odds are it's on a stand. Still makes no difference in what I said engine in or engine out.
