98 dx all stock...

so first thing in the morning and first thing after work 11 hours later my clutch will squeak one time right as the disc starts to engage like the moment you know it just touches the flywheel you hear a distinct quick chirp/squeak then its gone.

the clutch makes no noise in neutral with the clutch pedal in or out is just that one quick squeak per day. if i drive it throughout the day it wont do it again only if it sits for 8-10 hours before restarting.

clutch is an exedy oem with pressure plate and resurfaced flywheel with less than probably 2k miles on it.


any idea what this is? could there be something on the clutch or what. im in florida so the coldest its gotten is like 50 or 60 at like 2am so its not freezing out side.

 

It sounds like a throwout bearing, especially if its happening only when its cold.

 

This sounds like the pilot bearing to me...I sold/installed clutches for about 10 years. This is when the pilot takes the most stress...right when you begin to transfer torque from the engine to the trans. It's the support for outer end of the input shaft. These are sealed bearings and if the oil inside them is "cold", they will begin to make this sound when they are starting to go bad. If you didn't replace it when you replaced your clutch I'm almost positive of this. Although without hearing it, I can't tell you for sure....
