6 Puck Clutch now Grinding.
Well guys here is my recent problem hope you can point me to the right direction. Story started like this, Clutch got destroyed a spring popped out after a drag event, i DID drive the car like that shifting clutchless and revmatching till i get to the mechanic ( I shouldve done it myself i know but i work double time atm). The tranny prior to the stock clutch disk failure was running on Dexron fluid and only SLIGHTLY grided 3rd above 9k. I remove the old destroyed disk and bring it in a shop to remanufactor the whole thing to a 6 Puck. When the shop installed the disk they told me that the pressure plate diaphragm was not point outwards but was kinda like flat, wich in return doesnt let me adjust the clutch because if pick up the slack from the pedal (cable tranny) the diaphragm grinds on the disk. The Shop tha remanufactured the disk told me that the difference in disk thickness is only 0.2mm it shouldn't cause ill effects. Now the car will grind hard above 3-4k rpm in 3-4-5 shifts and sometimes lock-out in a 1-2 shift. Below that it shifts smooth as butter. Could be the extra weight from the 6 puck putting strain on my old syncros ? or maybe the shop installed the disc backwards (thats why the diaphragm was sitting like **** ? ) or is the shop that remanufactured the disc to blame ?
Thanks for any help !
Thanks for any help !
I was running dexron because it has the exact same visqocity as Honda's new MTF plus it covers the standards. And since i couldnt get Honda MTF or any other serious brand Transmission oil. I Resorted to Dexron. Have you tried it ? or seen any Ill effects from running it ?
I've never seen anyone run Dexron in a Honda manual. I know Ford did it for years with the M50D transmissions in F-150s and Rangers, but I'm not sure I'd want to run it in a Honda. Honda's new MTF is too thin now, it kills input shaft bearings and it breaks down quickly. I'd run 10W30 before I ran ATF. Torco MTF if you can get it.
