Okay to remove wheel weights before taking wheels in for balancing?
Um this is a dumb question, right? Since I always bring in wheels/tires for balancing (as opposed to having them on the car), can I remove the stick-on wheel weights before I take the wheels to the shop? Seems like the mechanic just removes them before the first spin on the balancing machine anyways.
Thanks
Thanks
Yes, thats fine... they spin them on the balancer and put new weights on, so the old weights are not important anymore. Or you could just leave them on since they'll pull 'em off anyways....

Yep thanks I figure I'll save the guy the trouble and I get to clean off the adhesive residue before instead of afterwards.
Good idea to remove them yourself; sometimes the tech gets lazy and does not remove all old weights before spin balancing.
Well actually, depending on the circumstances wheel/tires will be spin balanced w/ the old weight(s) still on just to see if they're already fine. If you're bringing them in, then its assumed there's already a problem w/ the current setup. Many times it saves a precious .2 of labor time and time is $$$$$$$$
