Default My REAL RHD 87 EF3 FROM JAPAN build!!!

First and foremost IF YOU KNOW WHO I AM PLEASE DO NOT!!!! DO NOT!!!! SAY MY REAL NAME ON HERE!!!! thank you!

[edited] Second of all. i had a few people PM me about my picture i have..... i did post a picture of my gun in front of my EK. when i mean no theft, I REALLY MEAN IT. I DO NOT TOLERATE IT. If you have no plans stealing any of my stuff, dont worry about it nor be offeneded. lol Im not a dick at all, im just stating where i stand about theft. other then that im a out going out. pretty much a kidder. so please do not get offended if i say something, its more then likely a joke. heck if you see me driving around ill more then likley show you the car, heck maybe let you drive it! (with me in it of coarse LOL!) anyways!!! lets get on with the build. LOL! CHEERS!!!!

main reason why im posting this up, is cause i feel like i owe a alot to the honda community. so ill post my build to show off what i have discover in the car vs the US cars and hopefully someone learn something and can take something away from this and pass it forward.

So some of you know i have been looking for a real EF9 for the last 5-6 years. so I Found this EF3 and thought and waited for a few months before pulling the trigger. while i was thinking about this EF3 i still looked for a EF9. After my search and many contacts from real ef9 owners, ill say this to anyone looking for one.... Good Luck. Anyways, I bought this EF3 and have plans to convert it into a EF9. i know some people will not approve of this turning a SI ZC into a SiR.

Huge thanks for Elvin at JAPAN Cars and Trucks SoCal! Check out there Facebook!!!! https://m.facebook.com/groups/349029141880219 really though! DO IT NOW!

so here is a few pictures of the car.

from the for sale ad

When it was unloading

and now some random pictures oh how it sits when i got it.

the tape deck with radio stations from 70s-80s (not the years, the frequencies)

a little bit of mods. i think its like day number 5 of owning the car lol.

so here is a pictures of the mid shaft for a zc. some of you know its just a d series with a DOHC head for it. however single cams normally have a long shaft. no mid shaft.

so most of honda people don't know of the Different LCA's. So in the USA 88 civic and the Type R ITRs came with a different LCA's. so since this is a 87 it comes with this LCA on the left is the different one. one on the right is the normal one we see on most cars.

and here is how it sits on some OLD SKOOL rims. can anyone guess what they are??????

Sorry i didnt any interior shots. that will be for another day.

What are my plans you ask? i guess you will have to find out!!!

Yes IT IS 100% LEGAL!!!

[edited] thats not a 87 Black Picture! they only came 88-91 more like n00b Picture!!!!!!! why yes it an 87 hondas had came out a year early then ours. only usa had them from 88-91. so a member named Rude Awakening corrected me on here. Which makes sense ill just copy his post here. Thanks for the corrections (learn something new everyday lol)

In Japan, an EF Civic (88-91) Built in Oct 1987 is a 1987.10 car.

one last thing. I WILL SAY THIS. DO NOT SNOOP AROUND MY PROPERTY. I DO NOT TOLERATE THEFT!!!!!! I MEAN IT!!!! IT WILL NOT BEST THE FIRST TIME ITS HAPPENED TO ME!!!!!!! I WILL GUN YOU DOWN!!!!! 100% legal where i live!!!! YOUR LIFE IS NOT WORTH STEALING MY CARS!!!!!

Look what came in the mail! THANKS CHRIS AT NOR CAL AUTOSTYLEZ!!!!

Front end is on. i still need to go over the difference of the EF3 Front end VS the US Front end. my phone died when i was taking the pictures

Alright a kinda of a big update, So ill explain the difference from the Japanese model from the Murica model. Also detailed my car a little and Fixed my seats belts as well.

as you can tell it does have auto windows. now most models of civic/integras has the click to make them auto roll down without holding the switch. Well in the model it does the same goings up. CRAZY!!! lol

weird seeing the dead pedal there!

Ok so this is a freeway toll charger thing. its suppose to charge you when you go from town to town while passing a toll, i guess thats how it works. anyways no use for us in the states, however im keeping it cause it is cool! lol

Most people with cluster swaps already know that the japanese model E-brake light is a (O) symbol.

I wished i got lucky and have a LED flare lol.

Light in the Coin tray. I know my US ef does not have the feature, and i know the my CRX SI did not have that feature. unless the light was just burnt out. Can anyone check to see if their US ef's do this???? thanks!
Also the radio stations frequencies go from the 70s-80s

I bet most of you dont know this about the OEM clock. When the car is off and you want to check your time, just push on the flap that covers the buttons to adjust the time, it will light up the time for you! and Yes this does work on the US models lol!

Lumbar support! also i dont have a pictures of, but the passenger side in the middle of the car, it has a lever that allows seat the fold foward so the drive doesnt have to lean all the way over to let someone in the back. (my US dx model does have this but its on the side closet to the door, and its mainly for the people in the back to use.

The seat belts are totally different! The closet thing we have are the 88 civic's seat belts. other then that they are on the door of the car.

Also the seat levers are 100% different from the US models, AND! they bolt to the chassis different. so these seats are not interchangeable unless you do a seat rail swap.

So i went to fill up gas in the car, and i notice it was really loud when filling. then i notice there was no trap door on in it. so i asked my buddy if it was the same on his 89 EF9, and it was. I wasn't sure if it was a 87 thing.

So i decided it was time to start fixing the broken seats belts. the passenger side had a really hard time pulling out, and the driver side didn't do anything beside laying there.
so one thing i really wished i got to find was gas receipts or candy wrappers, and was really hoping for yen! While i was pulling the interior out i found a few wrappers (which i was like cool! and i did keep them lol) then BOOM! i found 100 yen which is a little more then a US dollar. which ill keep in a plastic baggy for now. But i dont think i will find much of anything else. the last owner in japan put a bunch of padding in the car to keep the sound out. Which leads me to my next guess of the last owner. so in the pictures below you can tell the trunk is more yellow then the rest of the car. so the cardboard peice is pretty bet up from being wet. also found some weights for fishing lines. so im guessing he/she did alot of fishing lol. anyways back to the build.

so the reason why the passenger side was so hard was because of the plastic gear not being on the wheels anymore.

So the windup ribbon snapped, so my dad and I tried to fix it since the Japanes model is totally different then the US one. then i said forget that lol! so i took my chances at the junk yard. i pulled one off a 99 Integra. it was very different but! i had to modified the seat belt pully, and the snap in points fit right up the housing perfect! pheww!!!!

Also uploaded a small video. In a Japanese model civic, once you go over 110 kph, the car will start beeping at you to let you know your over 110 kph. Im lucky this still works due to previous owners ripping the feature out of the car. (I wonder why lol)

meh. im too tired to find the embed code for this site.

and now I am off to bed! good night! and enjoy!

Nice car. PLEASE dont get caught up in getting "odd" wheels just because rare or brand name.

Interesting. Yeah on the wheels I wish they where bigger. I like them, however they won't stay on the car for long. If a wheel is ugly to me, even its a brand name. It doesnt change the fact its still ugly in my opinion Lol.

Also would anyone know how to decode a Japanese Vin???

Alright here is a small update from my phone. Pulled the motor from my ED6 which is a b16b type R also polished up the mounts. Now ef9 mounts are 100% different however ef3 is just like the usdm mount. While I had the motor out I decided to clean up the motor and transmission.

Not too bad for rapping it out to 9k everyday I've drove it for the last 7 years

I really don't have much of the tranny before but it was caked with crap.

Thats all I have for now cheers!!!!

Not sure if i missed it, but you will NEED to swap out your engine post mount with a 90-92 DA Integrsa for that B series to fit into that chassis
