Rebuilt Title Civic si
Bought a Civic SI 06 HFP for $6800, what do you guys think of the price? Was it worth it? It has Just a little over 97,000km still in really good condition. Just need some opinions. It's been rebuilt already.
It looks okay from the outside, but you'll really need to dig "deep" to see how it was rebuilt. Cars with a rebuilt title will always have a "mystery" factor to them, since you won't really know how well it was rebuilt even if you know the shop that repaired it.
Unless you supervised the rebuild, the shop could have left out parts such as: screws, clips, plastic shields, bolts. The possibilities are somewhat endless in this department. Many times you'll see a rebuilt car that looks complete on the outside, yet hasn't been repaired properly on the inside.
Knowing more about the history of the car, specifically what prompted the "rebuild", would be helpful here. Was it theft, flood, hail, collision (front/rear/side)?

do you have any pics of how it was in that accident?
a pole dead right in the center could mean a lot of body damage which can relate to the car not being perfectly straight anymore...

Inspect it, take it to your mechanic, have him inspect it, check the frame for damage, test drive it, and plug it to see if it throws any codes.
Ask if the price is negotiable, and if you like it enough, and can live with the price then go for it. Best of luck

Sounds like an awesome price. I've had one salvaged Si, working on another (work on hold until semester ends). Clean titled cars are just as mysterious; a car can have been involved in multiple accidents and keep the clean title.
If the car is looked over by someone that knows what they're doing and nothing wrong is found, I say go for it.

But this thread will always deter me from the potential issues one may run into with a rebuilt title car: http://www.civicforums.com/forums/182-7th-gen/336832-think-twice-before-you-buy-salvage-title-vehicle.html
Definitely have to agree with you there, I've seen people buy clean titled cars that have accident history.

I think not disclosing a missing airbag is illegal, but I'm not 100% sure on that. It probably varies state to state.
Definetely take it to a local shop and have it checked out completely.
And for airbags, that link doesn't work but there is a company who was selling refurbished airbags and they were cutting corners like crazy to repair them.
I'd be more worried about the drivetrain being damaged if it hit dead center, there isn't much space in these cars between the bumper rail and the intake manifold.
Definetely take it to a local shop and have it checked out completely.
