I purchased a catback replacement exhaust for my 00 civic, however now I've received my parts and there's a quick question I have.

The exhaust pipe from the cat to the muffler is in 2 pieces. One of the parts has an extra piece of pipe around it, as if to create a sheath over the cut line. Am I supposed to weld that section together or clamp it or something?

I know it's a novice question, but just wanna make sure before I spend an afternoon screwing something up.

 

the part after the resonator is a slip fit. you slip one pipe over the other and use the clamp to hold it in place.
