93 Del Sol - My First Honda
Hello all,
Let's start off with a little back story:
Been in need of a nice cheap daily driver to get me to work and to college.
Originally I wanted to find a nice civic but then I had an urge that I should get a del sol instead so I set out to find a cheap del sol.. a month of searching took place and a lot of craigslist lurking.
Then this thing popped up for $1,500. Called up the seller and made a deal for $1,000 over the phone hoping that everything would work fine on the car:
This is what I knew before checking it out:
217K original miles on the D15b7 (yikes)
No A/C - Needs condenser replaced
And that the paint was bad.
Here is the pic from the ad:

Headed over, drove it around the guy's neighborhood. Everything was fine. Buttery smooth transmission, no oil leaks, healthy sounding D series. So I figured, $1,000 and I have my daily for school and work. Deal was made and now I'm driving this puppy home! Cruising on the highway I immediately felt the lack of power on this thing (hooray for non Vtec single cams!
). But I was too happy to care. Planning on an engine swap once I save up the cash.
Well here it is parked at its new home.

Came with literally brand new tires!

It's obviously lowered. Front seems to be stock shocks and ebay springs?

Rear has Tokico Blue's and some type of Coilover sleeves as seen here:

The interior isn't that bad. Just needs a new passenger interior door handle and the speaker grilles. Came with a JVC AM/FM/CD deck that absolutely sucked. All fuzzy sounding and the CD function didn't work.

Next day after I got it, I replaced the passenger window motor (owner included with the car, as well as the rear window motor. Driver side works fine)
Door panel off.

New Motor

And done for now, just need to do rear window motor next once time permits.

Next I picked up these small goodies. Time for a new deck and an oil change!

Stripped the center console off. Wow, look how clea....
Vaccumed this whole area and wiped it clean before I continued with the installation of the new deck.

I rewired the harness for the new deck and bam! here she is. Stereo sounds decent for now. Boston's in the front hold their own pretty well, speakers in the back are blown.

And that's pretty much all I have done so far from my short 3 days of owning it.
Looking forward to being a member of the forum and bring you all along my journey of building my sol!
