noise at start up
Hi guys
I have a 94 accord with an F22B2, my car has developed a squealing noise at start up but goes away if i take it to about 2k rmp, it will last for about 5-10 min and usually only does it when its cold it will also go away if i put it in netural . I have checked the belt i just replaced both belts about 6 months ago tension is fine on them, the noise is coming from the driver side of engine compartment. I have not been able to locate any other thread where the same or even a similar problem is mentioned thanks in advance for any advice

see if the pulley's are cockeyed...it could be rubbing against the pulley if the pulley is bent via the thorough bolt/bracket
also the pulley itself isn't bent...it's bent as a result of the bracket or where the thorough bolt goes through the ps pump, ac compressor, or alt

it's rpm not rmp that's why i skipped over that...didn't really notice..you said it goes away after 5-10 min which is exactly what I got right now until i get around to grabbing a prelude ps pump and bracket from the jy
grab some wd40 and spray it on various things while it's acting up and see if the squealing goes away...when it does you've found the culprit

New belts will stretch and need to be reset from time to time. Being it is now getting colder and the noise goes away after the car warms up, I'm going to say its simply belt slippage. As holmesnmanny said, spray the suspected area with WD-40. If the belt is slipping it will stop squealing.

Okay so I adjusted the belts, most of the squealing went away, but there is still some. any other suggestions? I'm very hesitant to spray wd-40 anywhere as I have heard that is a huge no no

To adjust belt tension...on the "longest" side of the belt, in the exact middle of that side you are checking, you try to twist/turn it more than 90 degrees. It should not turn more than 90 degrees. If it does it needs to be tightened more.
