Default the 95 Vx Hatch up to speed :) mpg report

I think the 95 vx I got recently is running good. Changed oil 10w 30 supertech synthetic( I wanted thicker start weight its 209k miles), good tires didnt have do much anything or spend any money.
stock air box
I got it for $1600

Only little shakey at 78mph+ (maybe need little alignment and balance)
But i mostly driving 50-75mph

Using same pump my first fill up it took $25 which is unreal cause my stealth tt takes like $70

I went 360 miles could went lot more but was going through nyc and didnt want stop for expensive gas. The same pump it clicked at 7.8 gallons. I was like wtf 46mpg first try? Woohoo.
So pretty happy and pretty sure ill be in 50s in no time..
Old epa claims 56 mpg hwy so almsot there with bs ethanol mix. So I got nearly what revised epa sticker said which is like 50 hwy or so.

That tank I did like 50/50 I hit lot traffic city or hwy.
will post updates

What you all think?

I wish I still had my vx motor, I do have the ecu and intake manifold, someone stole the motor from my garage. just keep an eye on your tire pressure and af ratio

If you keep it 65-70 on hwy, you will make a big difference. I use to get 45 mpg city without even trying. Hwy would hurt me because I drive 75-80.

Yeah. Do they have any taller gears for 5th if we at under 2k at 75 we can get better mpg

I dont think vx has air fuel gauge

And what should tire pressure be at with original vx rims

(Yep, I screwed up on this one. Sorry twinturboguy - my bad.)

Always glad to hear about VXs running smoothly. And that haven't been swapped to B-series beasts and preserve their original fuel economy.

I believe for mpg, you want a higher psi. (38-45) Dont hold me to those numbers. I am sure ecomodders would have more info.

I love my 95 vx for that reason! Mid-high 40's when I'm driving normal 50/50 town and highway and still mid 30's on the weekends when I drive it like an indy car. All my buddies drive trucks and they have me a ton of crap when I fest got the honda until one night we all filled up and $30 filled me up and bought me Mickey d's (I'll be honest my gas gauge was a little off so it really had almost a 1/4 tank but still).

Lucky. I got a vx but I have a Cali spec. And whoever had the car before swapped the transmission with the ex/si one lol. So far averaging me 38mpg mix driving on 3 tanks so far. Gave me 33 on one when I filled with 91 octane so no more good stuff in it lol

yeah my first tank was 46 mpg haha. So i haven't seen 30mpg.
I just checked the air filter too its brand new and needs no cleaning at all.

I am at 342 miles on this tank and its not over just yet. like 1/6 tank left
using 87 fuel.

but tires ill probably try like 40 psi to be safe.

and here in Nj gas is 2.99 so like fill up is $23-25 :D with the small 10 gallon tank.

eh did 42 mpg. Took 9 gallons. 375 miles.

Got do balance and fill tires to 40.

So getting to know that vx good running is pretty much good for 400 miles. Less then 27-29 dollars for fill up from empty at current gas price in nj.

Thats bad *** mileage and your gas is cheap compared to the $3.59+++ here and that's regular (which I refuse to use).
I used to have this '89 ford escort gt, it had a 1.9L h.o. motor with mpfi, factory headers etc, it was actually pretty fast and it got nearly 45 mpg. I probably should have kept it but it was a ford after all so I let her go after a year or so.

Cool would never guessed a ford get that mpg..
I put 43psi in all 4 tires. The front were like 24 psi and rear were like 26-30 psi. its like the tires were changed and owner never checked air pressure.

So far on new tank I went 115 miles and the needle didn't move from full line yet haha.
Hoping this is a 50mpg+ tank!

So on current new tank. 5/8 of a tank and at 240miles!
At 80miles i filled tires to 43psi.

This maybe the best tank yet cause at this miles ill probably be 265-290miles at half tank! dunno why it jumped up so much..

Nice work TTguy. I got 50mpg almost exactly the first time I filled up my VX. I haven't gotten over that but I've matched it a few times. Lowest I've had was 42 when I decided to drive it like my old CRX. Keep it tuned up and shift about 2K or earlier and you'll be fine.

I'm fixing up the steering and suspension on mine. Rescued it from a guy who was thrashing it and planned on putting a B series in it. Only mods I've done are swaybars and an armrest.

Good save man.
People grab the VX's because OMG HATCHBACK and trash them by trying to make OMGRACECARS...
Bad decisions all around once you venture down that path.

google it. its big on economodder.com I bought a pre assembled kit from a member on there. It works just like a scanguage or ultraguage that can track distance, speed, mileage and fuel used but for pre-OBD2 cars such as your civic

If you are running a stock airbox, take off your bumper cover and remove the resonator that is down below the airbox. Its pretty restrictive, and after I removed it on my CX i picked up ~2mpg on average.

Just for clarity, with full interior, AC, 14x6 borbet wheels on 195/60s @32psi, the resonator delete, cat delete and less restrictive muffler, and slightly tweaked timing and valve adjustment, I was in the 40s mpg in town and capable of 55mpg highway.
