I recently acquired a 1993 Honda Del Sol with the 1.5l engine. It idles funny. I was wondering if it could be out of time. I know it has an interference engine but I was told that it was a timing problem....... any ideas??

 

Need more info. A video? Or a soundbyte even? Is it idling up and down constantly, like mini revs? Or is it a rattling noise?

 

Idling up and down constantly, like mini revs. Someone said that it prob wasn't time properly. I didn't think an interference engine could run while out of time without tearing something up.

Clean the FITV and bleed the cooling system.

 

had the same pb with my d15z6, for me I just cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and after a couple of days, the idling was normal for me.

 

My throttle body was also the problem. There was a black ring of dirt at the blade.
cleaned it up and all was well.
