I have a set of HD Honda trunk springs for use with a spoiler. How hard is it to change out and do I need a special tool?

 

It's hard as heck the first time. Honda sells a special tool to do this job, but I thought I could get by by just using a Robo-Grip (I like to think I'm an experienced mechanic).

I got them on, and all the scars are finally healed up.

The special tool is nice to use if you have one, but vice grips will work if you dont.

ask any of the HondaTechs at the dealer. EIther they will help you using the tool (which they got for free) or sell you an extra.

Part of picking a dealer techs brains is holding the rear deck while installing the springs.
