Icon6 Buddyclub IV Upgrade

This is my setup as is right now. Got 193whp from it. Static compression ratio calculated to be 12.9:1 with a 1 layer head gasket.

99 Integra Type R Head (PR3)
Skunk2 Tuner Stage2 Cams
Brian Crower Valve Springs & Retainers
Edelbrock 70mm Throttle Body
Skunk2 Cam Gears
B18A LS Block (Crank & Rods)
JDM P73 Pistons with JE piston rings
JUN Headers
Stock ITR Intake Manifold

I am thinking of switching my cams to Buddyclub IV (already acquired). Does anyone see an issue with upgrading to these cams?

First thing, what P73 pistons are we talking about? JDM or USDM? If its USDM you're compression is not that high. Its 12.2:1ish unless you had some serious milling and decking done.
I personally dont see any advantage to switching from the tuner 2's to the BC's.

Pistons are JDM. Corrected it in the first post. Thanks for the comment.

Vtec lobes between the two cams are very similar from what I've been told, so I wouldn't expect you to gain much(if any) except for the midrange.

What IM and header are you using?

Stock Type R IM for now. Will be changed to a Performer X soon. Running a JUN header.

I would say your next "move" would be some headwork or sleeve the block. Maybe even just a valve job from Portflow, Perf. X and some RDX injectors, retune. I don't see a cam swap doing you much good until more displacement is done. Maybe DD Tech could shine some light on it?

I'm from Jamaica so Portflow isn't possible. Will find a local company that can do the valve job. Perf X and I was gonna use some H22a injectors.

If the H22 injectors aren't free, don't bother with them. RDX's are cheap and atomize fuel better than oe, making you more power.

You don't want to ship your head international or is it a customs thing?

Run a modded performer, don't run a stock version.

Thanks for the advice guys. Think i'm gonna install the bc4 cams....with the bigger primaries i should have more power in the low - midrange.

@clean rice - The h22a injectors are basically free but i'll try and source some RDX.

Curious as to why? I thought it decimated all on a 1.8L off the shelf.

Anything bigger then a stage 1 cam, will lose midrange with this manifold, unless its modded. I've delt with a few customers who were running bigger cams, and the cams would make good low end, suffer in midrange, and then regain back up top, this was showing a intake resonance of some sort in which RPM had to over come something.

BC4s are the EXACT same VTEC lobe as skunk stage 2s. Expect a bit more midrange and the exact same powerband once VTEC engages. That seems a bit low for that setup.

What header are you using?

JUN Headers. HP is low because of the quality gas we have here. 90 octane at best.
