Default pcv breather box delete question

Hi
The port that the factory breather box connects to just below the block deck on a b18c which most people put a bolt in when they install a catch can- what comes out/goes into it?
I.e the top little tube of the black box.

I would like to loop it to the valve cover stock purge/breather port if it won't damage anything. Why? I forgot to plug it earlier so putting a tube on it would be easier then a bolt now with everything assembled and I wouldn't have to plug the v.c breather.

So to clarify- I want to loop the block at the aforementioned port to the valve cover breather. If it isn't dumb.

Anyone know anything about whether that would be OK?

I have t1 catch can setup with block drain back.

Thanks guys

That black box and the valve cover breather are both breathers. If you hook them together no air will get out. Usually people take those two things and run them to a catch can. What supplies your catch can now? I also wouldn't drain it back into the block. I've heard that oil isn't really something you want back in your motor.

Thanks for the reply.
I have four lines of the v.c and two off the block heading to catch can, and the large breather box hole freeze plugged.
Just want to know if I can loop those two remaining ports.

Sounds like the block has plenty of vents.. You'd just be closing two small ones.
Will look unconventional everyone is used to seeing filters on the vc nipple.
Sometimes just cuz there's nothing else to do with it

For boosted guys, I heard running a catch can is a lot better.

Is it alright if I just leave a little breather attached to that nipple ? Will it hurt anything ?

Take a trip to autozone and look at their pcv plug vacuum plug section.
They sell black plugs for like 3 buck for a bunch of different sizes, it fits very snug over that valve cover breather and doesn't come off.

I think its just called a nipple if you go in and ask. Ill take pics for you guys tomorrow.

I'm saying though, isn't the oil suppose to circulate out to a catch can in which the catch can then does a better job venting it out to the atmosphere instead of just blocking off the valve cover passage?

If you have 4 lines off the valve cover do you really think you need a extra hose about 3/8th's big?

Someone should market a dress-up accessory for that tube on vc...

I'm so confused bro. Listen, I have ONE single nipple located on the top of my valve cover from it's factory design. I heard boosted guys running a catch can instead of a single breather instead. I don't want to vent it out to the atmosphere because it dirties up the engine bay. I had that happen to me last year, no fun cleaning it.

You could just drill it out and weld it. I mean might as well if you're welding bungs on the valve cover.

Its what I plan on doing I just like my valve cover color too much.

Oh if that's your only vent then yes run a hose from there to a catch can and a filter on the can. Plug the hole in the block with a freeze plug if its a vtec block. And youre removing the stock baffle and pcv valve.

I'm sorry about my English, but it's not the greatest. When you say baffle, are you referring to that black box that feeds through the intake manifold, and connects to the block ? Eliminate the black box, and plug it with a freeze plug, then just run a SINGLE line from the valve cover to a custom catch can with a filter for vent ?

Yes that would work.

Depending on how much whp you're planning to make you may need some more venting.

You wouldn't have to weld it shut. You could have a small aluminum piece machines that's an interference fit. Just remove the stock nipple and hammer the plug in. Or freeze it and it should go in by hand and be snug when it warms up

Then you don't have to worry about repainting your vc

that would help draw pressure out of the crankcase but it would also allow blowby vapors to contaminate the intake charge...

some people run air compressor water traps on the line between catch can and intake manifold... it actually traps oil vapors in the air and does a fairly good job of doing so... just gotta remember to drain it

Lol for a decent sized compressor trap its going to be about 200.00+

Might as well run a t1 style setup. Nothing wrong with the drain back.

Fact is stranger than fiction. This is a wild idea to me. First time I've heard of it.
