Default Boosted H23a

How well do you experienced guys think an h23a will handle a low boost setup? Ive been all motor for about a year now and interested in trying something different. Motor has just over 50000 miles and is bone stock, everything feels strong and doesn't smoke. Any advice is appreciated!

I've heard 260 to 280 is the safe limit. That's just rumor. I've seen a couple 250 whp H23 swaps.

250whp will hold for quite a while, 260+ gets a little iffy.
if your engine really does have only 50k miles on it, it should be more than good for a 6-8psi setup

this statement right here is invalid. you can not, i repeat, can not judge power by psi

Agreed. I guess the 260-280 was a little generous. 250 is a good stopping point.

partially true. if you know the engine is bone stock, then you know what compression is, and power per psi is a little easier to guess. I've boosted stock h23's with log mani's, tubular mani's, large t3's, small t3/t4's, and larger t3/t4's and have seen the power outputs of them all, which is how I felt comfortable saying 6-8psi is fine on a stock h23. yes power was different with each, but peak torque was very similar with all of them when running equal boost pressures
