Icon6 Crankshaft Pulley

Hi guys! How would I know if the crankshaft pulley is going bad and needs replacing or just needs tightening? I've noticed that the crankshaft pulley wiggles though barely noticeable. Also there's a very faint hum on the pulley while engine is on. Btw, its on a 5th gen SOHC VTEC. TIA.

if it's wobbling from a loose bolt then it's chewing up the end of the crank ("snout") and will be falling off soon, more than likely.

usually a smaller amount of wobble and especially the noise would indicate a worn damper ring/rubber layer. i've seen this separate completely on older vehicles like yours.

you can check online retailers like Rockauto for replacements. last time i checked they were about $40. you could also check the local auto parts store and while you're there see if they rent the pulley holder hex tool to help with removal and install.

Thanks for the reply, just replaced the crankshaft pulley awhile ago. the rubber dampers are starting to worn out.
