A bumper related question:

When my 98 spec JDM ITR was imported to South Africa, it came with an awful fg front bumper, which I want to toss in favor of an oem piece.

A tall order considering the rarity of these cars on SA. I do have a bumper that came off a 94-97 spec, but I'm not sure if it was an itr, as there's no lip.

The question is, is there a difference between the itr and non itr bumpers, through the years, and is there a difference between the itr bumper and headlight shape between the early spec, and the 98 spec.

Basically, will this pre 98 spec bumper be a perfect fit with 98 itr headlights? Are the bumpers the same?

 

The bumpers should be the same. As I have never heard of there being two different bumpers between the '96 spec and the '98 spec. I would say I am 99% sure. I've seen some owners use non-HID headlights ('96 spec) on their '98 spec ITR's and it was an exact fit. This includes non ITR bumpers.

Bumpers are the same. Doesn't matter if it was a 96 or 98. All headlights are the same as well for the exception of the hid ballast attached on the OEM hid lights.

That's where my hours of research pointed. Even about the HID conversion. Ther problem was there was allot of reference to the round headlight differences, without actual mention that they were the type being referred to. So it was confusing, especially about the lenses and bumper brackets.

Very little reference to the JDM long headlight bumper, like mine.

So, I'm fine then. That's great news cos it'll save me a bundle.
