Buying s2k, what to look for
Looking for some advice on things to look for. I already looked at the car once and went for a ride in it. Everything seems good rides smooth looks real clean, interior does not look like it has 157+k miles on it.
I am getting it in my garage this weekend to give it a good inspection, get it up in the air, pull plugs, comp test what not. What are some specific things I may want to take a close look at?
Also what would you pay for this thing?
here is the description
2003 Honda S2000
Mileage: 157,xxx (will increase)
New Formula Red
Price: $10,000 obo
Modifications:
04+ front bumper
Club Racer front lip

Bridgestone Potenza RE11A tires in the rear (purchased in August)
Firestone Firehawk tires in the front (purchased in August)
Car had a rip in the soft top but was repaired. It does not leak
Minor scuffs on front lippassed Emissions in July 13

Just look at the normal stuff you would look at checking out any other car. S2000s are very reliable cars. Id offer 8,000 and try to get him around 9,000. Around where I live I see people post ones with about 40k less for around the same price. Id rather pay a few grand more for a lot less miles.
[QUOTE=preludeNApower;49228070]Looking for some advice on things to look for. You're going to have to deal with burning oil so get ready bro. You're gonna have to rebuild the block soon ( resleeve) or unless you like to top off your oil all the time. Which all of us AP1 owners hate but we still do it. Otherwise these cars are great. I would say the engine is your main worries. Focus on that and the car will last for awhile. I just sent mine out to Laskey Racing yesterday for a full build going turbo. See me at Irwindale next year hopefully pushing 700hp by then. GLW your ride bro.
I would look for a new front bumper... In all seriousness though. These cars are pretty sound. If nothing seems out of the ordinary while on the TD and the maintenance records look good, I say go for it.

Check everything.. Axles, ball joints , tie rods. Check to make sure no seals or fluids are leaking. Start cold and listen to engine for ticks or knocks. Compression test or leakdown test to check for leaks or wear. Look at everything
