01 Civic LX gears shifting problem.
I have a 4 cyl. automatic 2001 honda civic lx with a rebuilt engine and a rebuilt transmission.
The problem is when I drive it, first gear does not shift until a little over 3,000 rpms, I don't know if this is normal for a recently rebuilt tranny.
Second gear shifts at about 2,200 rpms which seems fairly normal.
Can someone please help me out?
THANX!!

drove the car yesterday. i tried to make it shift at those points but in first if I put light pressure on the pedal like in a parking lot. it will shift early. like 2200 RPM so i would say yours not shifting until then is strange. I mean i can get it to shift at any given rpm by giving it gas till the desired rpm then it will shift, but definitely 3krpm is not the minimum rpm i can it to upshift. Not sure if it matters but mine is an 02 civic EX
I recently rebuilt my transmission for my civic 02, there is an upgrade for the transmission filter kit. The new one is twice the size. How much mileage have you put on the rebuild tranny. Have you checked your transmission fluid?
