1997 accord SE p0135 location?
Hi all, my friends car (1997 accord SE non-vtec) has the code p0135 and i was wondering where this o2 sensor is located. It says bank 1 sensor 1, but dont know which one that is. And would that be pre or post cat? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

P0135 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
Prior to changing the O2 sensor, verify that the wiring harness to the O2 is not damaged.
Being a Special Edition model, the O2 sensor carries a different part number from LX and EX models.
Verify that it is the correct O2. Honda was probably smart enough to install a model specific connector on the harness to prevent a mixup.

How many miles are on your SE? Honda has an extended warranty on the O2 sensors. I discovered this after I replaced mine. I believe it is either 100K or 125K. I purchased an OEM sensor which fit ok. The plug was correct, however, the wiring harness was not the same outside diameter and it did not fit correctly in the retaining clip for the harness. I held it in the clip with a wire tie.

This should still be under warranty, as the emissions system (including the Oxygen Sensors) was included in an extended warranty for 150,000 miles or 14 years on Accords from 1995-1997.
Do a search for message # 108 in this forum for more details.
I have had two O2 sensors replaced under this warranty in my '96 LX. This SHOULD BE FREE for you.

115k miles but its almost 16 years old so i doubt there is any warranty left over.
This car has the non-vtec engine but on NGK's website it says the SE is Dohc V-tec. I just put in that it has the f22b2 (non vtec)
Is ngk 24042 the correct one?

had this issue once. in my case, the heater wire somewhat pulled itself out of the connector a little bit. I guess enough to trip the code. pushed the wire back in, cleared the code and good to go. worth looking into. other than that either have a bad o2 sensor or a unhooked/damaged wire somewhere. I have an se and I believe one o2 connecter is a male and the other o2 is a female.
What does your current O2 sensor connector look like? You need to find out if you need the male or female connector end on the O2 sensor side.
Male connector = Upstream PN. 24169
Female connector = Upstream PN. 24042

Female connector = Upstream PN. 24042
