So I've got a 97 Accord and I've started to notice when I'm at a stoplight or waiting outside someone's house, etc. or when I have the heat turned up, I can smell exhaust in my car. Does anyone have a clue what this could be or what I could do to fix it? Or should I just take it to a shop to get checked? I'd rather not because that costs money and I'm strapped for cash right now.

 

Purchase a can of Sea Foam, grab a friend. Reas instructions on how to use it as a cleaner in the intake/exhaust tract. Pull PCV valve hose off and start to feed Sea Foam into the hose. Wait for smoke to come out of exhaust, have friend look for any exhaust leaks where the smoke is being emitted. Fix leak, profit.

 

I second Mad Mike on that! Cheap way to find a leak. Do follow the instructions too... That stuff can let out a cloud of soot.
