How is the "Door panel stiffener" held on?
My door started making noise, thought the window fell off the arms, got home took the panel off, looked at the arms, windows still held on firmly.
I am assuming the name is "Door panel stiffener" I thought it was the door reinforcement bar, but anyway. How the hell does this stay on?
I am referring to piece of metal that goes in between the outer door frame and inner door frame, where the window sits.
The part attached going towards the rear is still attached, but the part that goes towards the front isn't which is causing the noise. It is in a horrible place, I got home late and didnt want to remove my speaker, but seriously it seems like PIA to look in there.
Is it held on by a bolt or screw? does it pop into something? I noticed there was some black foam like gunk that was holding it against the outer door panel, but that is gone.
I doubt it was welded on, unless it was at the ends.
Can someone give me some sort of idea of how its held on so I know what to expect to have to do over the weekend, I could cut it out, but I am assuming its purpose is to lessen the damage caused by shopping carts, car doors, and people kicking it so I would like to have it actually functioning.
Thank you

I want to say bolts or a rivet. I would just drill a hole (don't hit the glass) and put a bolt in it anyways. I know what you are talking about, but I don't feel like opening up my door to look. Maybe check your other door and see if there is anything holding it on. That would be a sure fire way to figure it out.
I found out there is a hole. I do not know if it was a screw (if so the head broke off as the hole is filled) or rivet, but it doesnt matter because i cannot deskin and reskin the door to fix it correctly.
Does anyone know if hondabond will work? If so is there a metal to metal version or is it just hondabond? I was considering the 3m foam, but I do not know if this would hold it, plus its like 50 vs hondabonda which was 18.
Thoughts? again metal to metal adhesive.
