Default 1997 Accord cranks, doesn't start

1997 Accord Sedan EX automatic
105,000 miles and seems to be in great shape.

The girlfriend was 20 miles into her drive to work on the interstate, when the car loses power, sputters, dies, and will not start back up. The car will crank (engine turns over) when the ignition is turned, but never starts. There is over a quarter tank of gas in the car. GF swears it is the fuel pump.

I checked for spark with an inline plug tester I purchased. All four cylinders created spark (although it was dim). I can hear the fuel pump kick on when the ignition is turned to on. The CEL is on and the code is P1382 -Cylinder Position Sensor -no signal. I can clear the CEL, and it immediately returns when you try to start the car.

I have read the 20 or so threads here about p1382, but they all have no spark as a symptom. I have spark (and appear to have fuel), so what else could it be?

Ideas are very welcome.

P1382 Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor No Signal

If the PCM does not see a signal it cannot command correct spark timing.

Tech Auto Ignition

You may want to check that the harness is plugged in fully and not oil fouled or damaged.
CYP pickup(s) are about $125.

Call your local Honda dealership if the car really only has 105Kmiles. That part may still be covered under an emissions warranty.
