DIY: 96 EX Accord: EGR
Hi there. I recently had an issue where my EGR stopped functioning properly. I assume this based on the fact that when a buddy of mine "bypassed" it (opened the hose and and the fumes shoot out into air...)
When we reattach the exhaust hose it sounds like the exhaust builds up, my motor didn't even make it out of the neighborhood)
1) Can I replace this myself? (To the naked eye it looks like two small hoses and three bolts that actually hold it in, seems simple)
2) Ive seen a few cleaning videos scraping, brake spray, etc cleaning their EGR to make them functional again..is this possible and whats the best way.
3) Other insider tips/info may be useful, complete and utter n00b on the mechanics field.

Ive replaced my Egr. Is cutting off on me as i come to a stop near a slight incline when i try to pull out of the neighborhood. Idle control valve? clean egr ports? it will all be done eventually, daily driver / project just want to know what to do first. first Honda pleased with the cheap parts.....last one was a caddy. sorry for short replies, on mobile until internet back up.
