Help SMOG! High NO levels and trying to fix heating problems.
I went for a smog test, and was told my rev was high and my timing was off. I had replaced my cat last year for a previous smog. I was thinking - because I replaced my distributor a couple months ago - its probably not aligned properly, and causing timing issues. Ive also been having over-heating problems..I replaced a broken hose and made sure the fan is working properly (so far this seems to have fixed the problem, though I still haven't had a run on the freeway). I was wondering what could be causing the timing issue? Or if anyone else has any suggestions on how to fix the high NO problems.
Can't upload the image but the test read : fail ignition timing tdc
15mph Max-731 Ave-240 Meas 1232. Fail
25mph Max-798 Ave-220 Meas 1108. Fail

Buy/borrow/rent a timing light, and set your timing. There's a how-to in the FAQ's sticky. Buy/borrow/rent a tach, and do the same for your idle speed - there's also a how-to for that in the FAQ's sticky.
