Extremely tempted. Need to hear opinions...
Alright guys, I am a college kid working at a bank part time. I've got about 9 grand in the bank and I'm looking to get a new car. I can get about 3 grand out of my current ride. That puts me to 12k. I was originally considering a WRX, but I've always wanted an S2000.
Well, I was cruising local ads, and this showed up:
http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/918050?ad_cid=5
I've been talking to the guy, he's basically an old rich dude looking to downsize his little collection of cars. The S is completely stock, although the **** **** looks aftermarket, can anybody confirm? Only has 40k miles on it. It looks like it has been very well mantained, I mean heck, it looks brand new from the pics. He wants 14,000, but says he would take 13,500.
So I believe I can buy the car, drive it another 40k and get 12,500 out of it when I sell it again, maybe more if I keep it in good condition. Thats a $1,000 loss on my part, but I drive the car for a few years.
Is the price as good as I believe it is? Right now with my limited knowledge it seems like a screamin' deal to me. The guy lives almost 4 hours away, but its nice, mountain roads to get there, so it would be a very fun drive back.
Anyway, I can throw some Blizzaks on it during winter season, but I do recognize that the car is very bad in the snow. Should I forget my dreams, and go with the WRX, which will be safer and more practical (though probably not as fun/as much as a chick magnet...)
Thanks guys. Please, no rude or arrogant comments. This place kind of has a reputation for that, no offense.

The day a Honda becomes a chick magnet is the day I wish to go back in time 10 years and slay high school *** up and down the halls.
The WRX is a lot more practical. You have to ask yourself if you can do without threesomes (unless they sit on each other), hauling loads of beer, females that are intolerable of creaks, rattles, and road noise, etc.
But this car will be so much more reliable if you don't derp it all over the place.
Don't drain your bank account either, take a small note or something. Have emergency money so you don't miss out on a sick Sorority party if you break something
Car looks good, old guys rule to buy cars from.
Other than that, I can't make up your mind for you, but 95% of WRX's are going to be clapped out. But you can fit like, 5-6 chicks comfortably in them. Put a Monster sticker on it and BAM, panty dropper for some reason.

Haha, true. Yeah, honestly I know exactly what you mean about the WRXs. I've been checking the local listings daily for 3 weeks now, and not one has come up that hasn't been "modified" in some way, even if it was a short ram intake or something. Mostly owned by racerboy kids and stuff. Yeah, honestly I already drive a CRX so I don't exactly haul friends around anyway. I let them haul me around, so 2 seater isn't a big deal. Its mainly the snow, I mean heck, insurance wont even be too bad on it, I got quoted for $588.00/6 months. It will be my main car so I'd definitely put snow tires on it, and then I'd also have to worry about the soft top. I would maybe buy a hard top, but eh...

s2ki is a good resource but it's a really vast and somewhat confusing site I find. If you want any info just go to google, type what you want with s2ki in the search and you'll find stuff a lot easier lol That's what I have to do!
I definitely agree that you should take a small loan out and not siphon your savings. Looks like a legit car, but I saw a lot of S2000s at $14,000 for AP2s in my area. Definitely try and get it down to $12k like Boots suggested. It is definitely gonna be hard in the winter without a hardtop and in the snow. Good luck and let us know what you do!
