Icon3 Next Tranny Question...big one here

2005 Civic LX Auto

So I did the drain and fill on the tranny (3qts) and went for a drive. Drove about 5-7 miles and noticed at about 3-4 miles third gear started slipping. Towards the end of my drive the tranny slipped more until I lost all gears. Towed it home with my other car and let the civic sit over night. Jumped in it the next day and the tranny is fine.

Seems like when the car is cold its fine but once its all warmed up, tranny doesnt want to work.

Any ideas? Might there be a sensor or something that prevents it from working properly due to temp?

Thanks

Sorry no bad sensor, you're going to need a transmission.

How was it running before you did the drain & refill?

Yes that's what happens to the tranny when its going out. It started to happen to mine. it was slipping already when I did the flush. ran great for a short while. then it began to slip a lot more till I lost all gears. even with fresh fluid it would engage when cold then less than 1mile away it would just free rev. the friction clutches in the trans are done. just replaced mine 2 month ago.

I got a remanufactured transmission from Synchrotech. it was $1075 picked up in so cal . brought up home, Las vegas NV, and my mechanic threw it in on the low. but its crazy how things add up quick. total cost was around 2k parts and labor
