Icon2 Radiator fan not coming on

Ok so I've already tested the fan it spins. Then I moved on to the fan switch (back of the block) jumped it and the fan didn't come on. So that means the switch is good. And then I didn't know exactly how to test the fan relay so I swaped in 3 different ones I had laying around (one of which I know works). So this leads me to believe that its wiring related. I have to wires near the passenger side shock tower that go no where and have no place in either plug from the chassis harness to engine harness. If I can't figure it out I will be forced to wire in a switch which I don't want to do. Any helps appreciated.
And I have a 1989 crx and I used a complete wire harness from an 88 crx si every else works.

Not necessarily.
One wire goes to ground and the other goes to trigger the relay.
If the wire that goes to ground is open (broken and not going to ground) then the switch won't work correctly.
Try jumping both connector wires directly to chassis ground.

I just grounded the wires to the fan switch and it came on. So you think I just need a new switch then?

Nope. I think the switch might be fine.

I think the two wires are Yellow/green stripe and Black like the wires in this image.

When the Yellow/Green is hooked directly to ground, the fan works, right?
The black is supposed to be ground.
You said that you hooked the Yel/Grn to the Black and nothing happened, right?
So this means your Black wire is not supplying ground.

The black wire runs up to the thermostat housing.
Check your wires at the thermostat housing to make sure they are all in good condition and connected.

If the wires are all connected and look good, then the black wire is broken somewhere.
Easiest fix would be to cut the wire a few inches from the connector at the switch, solder on a length of wire, and screw it down to ground.

Ok thanks ill clean up the thermo housing ground if that doesn't work ill look for a break in the black wire. If I can't find a break ill cut it and make sure it has a good ground.

The thermostat housing ground is REALLY important. It's the ground for the OBD0 ECUs. I know that to be a fact. It's really easy to get corrosion build up due to its location also.

ok so when I went to clean up my thermo ground I found that if couldn't be torqued down ( cause I over torqued it to get a tight ground). So I used another one that holds the wire harness still and now it starts on the first try. Instead of on like the fifth try but my fan still doesn't come on (and I cleaned up the ground). So I'm thinking I have a break in my black wire to the fan switch to ground ill have to check that out.
