Default ?B-series gear swap?

Hello. I am in need of seeing which gears can be swapped from what transmissions. I have 3 hydro b-series transmissions, 1 LS, 1 GSR, 1 B16. I have tore down a lot of motors but not my transmissions, i have a certified Honda mechanic friend that will rebuild them for me for next to nothing but he has never done any gear swaps just a ton for straight rebuilds. He will do any combo that will work i just need to tell him how the gears need to go.

My gsr is a y80, Ls is 95+ i believe, and B16 is unknown (no tag) other than a newer hydro.
I have a obx lsd for a b16/ls application.

???My question is can i put the 1st and 2nd gear from the gsr in the LS tranny and used all the LS internals like main shaft, counter shaft, f.d., ect... so that i can use the lsd with this combo???

My reasoning is that it is for a mild supercharger build, and i would like to save the 3rd and 4th from the gsr to put in my b16 and install a LS 5th that i would purchase later to make a type r replica tranny for my all motor car.

Any and all advise is appreciated and thanks ahead of time. Every bit of accurate info helps!

John

I believe the ls first and 2nd are the same gear ratios as the gsr. Only difference is the dual cone synchro on 2nd gear. So just keep the gsr intact, and use the b16 for your all motor.

yes you can do it. dont konw if there will be too much difference switching from 2nd to 3rd but it will definitely work.

the 1st 2nd (b16) 3rd 4th (gsr) and 5th ls gear makes a good transmission for a daily that dives on the highway/fwys.

gsr dont have dual synchrons. only the type r transmission is the one with the dual 1st and 2nd synchrons.

Wrong...
The b16 hydros, b17 cable gsr , gsr hydro, and type r have a dual cone synchro on 2nd gear. None of those have a dual cone on 1st.

I have a similar question about gear swaps. Could you swap a type r fd into an ls trans? Just for better gearing for an all motor car

So my 1st and 2nd from the gsr have the same ratio as my ls? This correct? If so that helps a lot on on transmission build so i can just put the lsd in the ls and move on. Thanks everyone for all the info!!!
