1998 Accord EX 4 door :: front suspension suspension sits very high
Hello. I have a 1998 Accord EX 4 door 2.3. It came with D2 lowering springs which I swapped someone on Craigslist for stock units from what I was told the exact same car as mine. I just wanted the car to be all stock since it is my daily. The D2s had the fender sitting about flush with the tire tread, maybe a fingers gap. After installing the stock struts it raised the car like 4 inches!! There is close to 4 inches of gap between the fender and tire tread. I see these Accords all over town and their fender gaps are about 2.5 inches or so. When I push down on the fenders with the car on the ground it easily compresses and you can rock the front end up and down like normal. So I dont think anything is binding.
Whats my problem? Is something binding? Control arm etc causing it to sit high from being torqued while on jack stands? Are the struts incorrect and for a V6 model maybe? The rear sits perfectly BTW.

if it had lowering springs it had to have some kind of aftermarket camber kit...you probably need to remove that now and have it realigned
My Accord had the 'boat' look with stock suspension. The front was high and the rear was lower. I tow with my car, so the rear is pretty much where I want it to be. I used Eibach Sportlines to lower the front. Even though I now have the 'rake' look with the front being lower (no slammed) and the rear being somewhat normal. When I have a trailer on, or the car is loaded, it levels out really nicely.
By the way, the Eibach sportlines is probably the good mild drop. The pro kit is not low enough while the 'race' kit is pretty much slammed. I do not have any lowering problems with my car. I have KYB AGX adjustable shocks and a camber kit. My car is very functional, and its looks fit my tastes. The ride is almost stock like, and with the adjustment, I can tighten the damping of the struts if I want a harder or softer ride.
