Default Turbo Gauge Set up

UPDATE: 7/2/14

Instead of making a new thread, I just changed this one.

For anyone who has removed the AC vents in the middle and put gauges there, where did you route the wires? I'm completely unfamiliar with the AC duct work. My car doesn't have AC and it sorta just has wires all over the dash and I'd like to run them behind the dash for obvious reasons.

IF you want the functionality of many gauges without having the gauge pods, maybe look into tunerview?

Shift light in the vents would be neat.

PML makes a gauge called the DMC-6 which is a very small slim gauge. it can display info from whatever module you have connected to it. Paired with an Si cluster (I have a couple, if you're not too far from Canada, PM me), it would be an effective and uncluttered system. I plan on mounting one on my steering column.

My $.02

The less pods, the better. Keep the car somewhat functional and stock looking while still having all your goodies installed. Install the 88-89 si cluster (I have one you could use) so you have a tach. I saw a thread years ago where a guy took the shift light off one of those Autometer monster tachs and installed it IN the far drivers side dash vent. When he would drive around, the vent would be open so he could see it. When it was parked, he could close it so nobody was the wiser.

Dunno if that helps or not, that's just how I would go about it.

Definitely does. I think the dash pods are better for me. I was going to mount the wideband, boost and oil pressure where the climate controls were, but then I decided I still like heat. I know I will end up using at least one gauge pod.

Anyways, I'll PM about that cluster.

Changed it up. Got a new cluster going in and I'm going with the dash pod. Where to run the wires and lines though?

Are you up for modifying your dash?
Referring to your picture, you could cut into your dash behind the pod to make a pocket to recess the pod into.
Having obvious aftermarket gauges and pods out in open view is a thief magnet.

My car is ghetto fabulous, it's already a theif magnet. I don't think moving my gauges is going to change that. I thought the dash gauges would be a better alternative to the A pillar. I am keeping my climate controls and my radio, unless moving my radio is easy? I'm not sure where to put that, but I would like to have the gauges in an easy to view place.

I guess I'm up for modifying my dash. Can I drill straight through it and drop the wires down? Or is there something important under it? I don't remember the lay out in that area. I know there are wires that I don't want to mess up.

That's pretty sweet. Looks a tad pricy. But I do like it, to a point. It offers a lot of information but it's on a digital screen. I do prefer more space between values. I will have to look into that though. A very good solution.

Well, to be honest, that is pricy for me. But! For what it is, it's pretty neat and that price isn't terribly deal breaking. Lets say I've got my PR3 in my car, wideband, mechanical boost/oil pressure set up; how would this work? Does it tap into the sending units for each gauge and base it off that?

I looked at them yesterday, just googled tunerview. I'll research them and see how they are set up.
