1997 Special Edition exhaust - pre-cat parts?
Attached is a picutre of the front pipe and woven intermediate pipe (12" long) and the start of the cat (13" long). The OE sites have the woven pipe, etc. on their diagrams which I can't seem to find anywhere else online. Any thoughts? I'm thinking this is a California exhaust system? I'm not in CA and the car isn't from there, so is there anyway I can retro fit this with regular non-CA parts? Sorry pretty new to this.

Nope not a Calif thing, but a 95-97 'Special Edition' thing.
All 'Special Edition' models, came with automatics, and had this type of exhaust with two cats, with that flex pipe in between. I'm guessing these were some kind of early LEV/ULEV type of vehicle.
With that said, changing the parts to a more typical DX/LX/EX style of exhaust will require replacing the down pipe/pre cat>flex pipe>cat>midpipe, with the more common downpipe>mid pipe A>catalyst>mid pipe B from a DX/LX. And the engine to down pipe bracket is also completely different. By the time you are done changing all these parts out it would have been cheaper to just replace the busted flex joint.
