Default dome light

The dome light on my 92 DX doesn't come on when I open any of the four doors when it is in the middle position. If I turn the dome light switch to "ON" it does come on, and if I turn it to "OFF" it turns off. It should turn on when the switch is in the middle position and any of the four doors are opened, but it doesn't. Any help appreciated.

Edit: Another thing I noticed is that the interior beeping sound doesn't happen when the driver door is opened while the key is in the ignition either. And I don't know and can't recall whether there's supposed to be a door open indicator on the dash when any of the doors are opened when the ignition key is not in the ignition, but I'm not seeing any such indicator on the dash when any of the doors are open either.

I tried taking out the driver side door switch and cleaning it up to see what would happen. To my surprise, that fixed the problem (for that door anyway). The dome light came on, and as well the beeping when the key is left in the ignition. It's a four-door car, so I tried doing that on each of the three other doors. Got the light to work by cleaning the switch contacts the same way with two of the other doors. On the last door though, after cleaning the switch and replacing it, the dome light came on but when I pushed the switch again the dome light wouldn't go off. I pushed the switch again and again, but still the dome light would not go off. So I removed the switch, and the even then with the switch removed, the dome light still remained lit (with all doors closed)! So I went ahead for now and turned the dome light to the "off" position until I can figure out how to fix it so the dome light won't stay on all the time now. Any suggestions how to fix this appreciated.

Recheck the "other" switches to be sure the wire didn't come off of one of them and is now grounding to the body.

I'll go ahead and check but it doesn't seem likely because after I reinstalled each one separately after cleaning them each one was functioning properly, switching the light out when the doors were shut and switching it on when the each door was opened.

Update: I seem to have discovered the problem after removing and then reinstalling each switch once again. The second to the last door switch has rather worn contact spring doo-hicky inside that prevents it from opening the circuit each and every time the door is shut. After fiddling with it a little I got it working okay most of the time, and will plan on getting a new switch, or two maybe.

sometimes the contacts on the dome light itself get corroded and need to be scraped clean again

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind too.
