Changing headlamps?
Hey all what's the best/easiest way to change the headlamps on the 91 civic hatch? There's a bottle in the way on driver side And passenger side doesn't seem blocked bit is it easier to drop the bumper and take the lens out?
If you want entirely new head lamps. I'm not sure if you have to remove the bumper, but I did since I did some other modifications at the same time. But you should be able to find a write up on this some where.
Googling in 3...2...1...
First take the front bumper off. its four bolts in the front and two screws one on the corners at the front of the wheel arch. this will let you get into the lip between the lights and the bumper. then there are four bolts on each headlight and the black bracket will come out with it.

Front Bumper
Take the bumper lights out by removing the 2 phillips screws out on each light. Pull the lights out and take the bulbs out of the back. Then take the screws out of the bumper that are in the wheel well. These are flat, black, phillips screws. There are 2 on each side. Next look through the wholes in the front bumper that the bumper lights where in and you'll see 2 12 mm bolts on each side, Take these out and the bumpers off.
Filler Panel
There are 7 10mm bolts to take this off. 2 on each side connecting it to the fenders, one in the center, and one under each headlight.
Lights
There is only one screw on each corner light if you have a 90-91. There's 2 on the outside of the corner lights if it's an 88-89. I'm not sure if that's it. The screw on the 90-91s is right inside the tip of the fender. Take that out and slide the corner light off and take the bulbs out. Unclip the plugs on the back of the headlights that are for the hi/lo beams. Then there are 2 10 mm bolts on the top of each headlight and one on the bottom if you look straight in. Unscrew the bolts and pull the headlight out.
