so last night I drove my car for an hour on the highway to pick my gf up from work. when I got there I had dinner. but on the way home when I was leaving, my car started bucking a lil around 1.5k rpms as i was pulling out of the parking spot. i thought I was just tired and let the clutch out too fast or something. then it did it again after I stopped at a stop sign. i just kept driving and the car was fine after that. I drove an hour back on the highway and the car was fine. but on the first red light after the high way it did it again. it's bouncing off an imaginary rev limiter. it doesnt matter if its in neutral, in first, rolling or stopped. this isnt an idle problem it idles dead on steady at 1k.

my car is a 99. it has an obdI ecu with a hondata s200. I recently put cams in. before I got it tuned it idled crazy. I tried to fix the idle surge myself, i made sure their was no vacuum leaks, coolant leaks, air in the coolant and I got a new IACV. once I got it tuned we set the idle at 1k and it idles perfect now.

but as of now when I give it gas it just bounces at 1.5k but after I somehow get it past 1.5 it drives fine.

what gives?

 

ok so I replaced my icm with a new spare I had, that didnt help.

i think it has something to do with my hondata s200. after i get it rolling everything is fine. its like the launch control. it's like it reset to 1.5k by itself or something...

 

Are you sure your timing is correct? I've had a car do this before (minus the sitting at a constant RPM) and it was that the timing was one tooth off. Car would jerk and be hard to rev up till about 1.5 or 2k, then run great after that.

 

Maintenance. Replace cap and rotor. Feel free to inspect them first of course but this is where im gambling.

 

or TPS sensor is going bad.

 

Had the same thing happen to me and it turned out to just be the wires
