Default Reverse Noise

97 accord when I back out of the driveway there is a low squealing noise coming from what I believe is the rear brakes. In addition the car started making another strange noise while driving, sounds like a metal ring is spinning type of rattle. Also in the same week the VSS went out. Any suggestion on where I should start looking?

Default Re: Reverse Noise

The squeak may be the warning tangs on the pads are contacting the rotor. I've found the pads installed on the wrong sides before. Being symmetrical it does not affect braking, but if the pads with the warning tangs are on the wrong sides they will not make noise when going forward, only in reverse.

The metal ring may be related to the brakes or the VSS depending on where it is coming from. You may be able to clean the VSS and fix it...
