Default Accord 92 oil in sparkplug well.

G'day!. - have some oil in sparkplug well 1 & 2. - Just how are the chances of getting rid
of the oil leak by only replacing the upper 4 o-rings?
Thanks in advance!

Replace the spark plug tube seals at the top of the spark plug tubes under the valve cover.

The spark plug tube seals are 4 seals that are underneath the rocker arm assembly. This is in addition to the 4 orings that are just under the valve cover assembly.

In the faq's at the top of this subforum you can find a guide on how to replace them.

I have heard from an experienced Honda mechanic that very rarely to those lower tube seals go bad, it is most likely the upper seals that are bad.

Just my 2 cents.

If you don't know something then it's best not to give out advice than to give bad advice.

Just my 2 cents.

Its not bad advice, there is a higher probability its just the upper seals. Replace them first, then if it still leaks after the proper torque specs and proper installation, THEN proceed to replace the lower tube seals (requires more work). Don't go telling people to do complicated stuff (removing the rocker arms to get to the seals) they might end up breaking something. An amateur (my brother had the car I did not permit this) tried to replace the lower tube seals on my engine and he ended up destroying the entire cylinder head because he did not put on the rocker arms properly. Freaking idiots I know, but it just goes to show you how you can really mess things up when removing rocker arms especially if they don't even need to be removed and its an amateur working on it who has no idea of what he's doing (I take it OP is an amateur).

Not only is it uncommon for the lower seals to go bad, but by replacing them you risk destroying the entire top end of your engine.

Don't tell me what to do or what not to do. You have no clue what you're doing. I tend to know what I'm talking about.

I don't know what you're basing your information on but the lower seals go out on these f series sohc cars all the time. Just do a search. Just because you've only worked on probably one car doesn't mean that is representative of most cars on the road.

Again, I know you're only goal at this place is to get a rise out of people but still. Just stop.

Gentlemen! - Allow me to stay neutral on this subject!......Wanted some information
on how frequently people get away with just replacing the upper ones as unfortunately
a lot more work is needed to get to those underneath the rocker assembly!
But thanks to both of you!
