Unfortunately you've been misinformed. The GEs are one of the most stout one-stop shops in the country. I'm sending 2 blocks there before the end of this year.

I had a block with Darton M.I.D. sleeves at 84.5 and they are just about bullet proof. Plus you get all the benefits of a stronger sleeve but the M.I.D. (Modular Integrated Deck) portion of the sleeves makes it a closed deck block for added strength and sleeve support but they designed it with an emphasis on maintaining proper coolant flow and cooling capacity. I loved mine

Next go round I'm trying Benson open deck sleeves at 84.5mm or 85mm (o-ringed of course)

You can't go wrong with most any of the sleeving companies. And while I might be a bit biased based on my experience with Darton, they are one of the oldest sleeve companies and have an absolutely stellar reputation from honda drag racers, high power r35s, to top fuel dragsters/funny cars (and every class inbetween) to any motor you can stick a sleeve in.

Not to say the other companies aren't as good but I've only used darton firsthand

Just trust it. You're fine. There are literally thousands of "testimonials" (including myself) for that company.

Yes but it's best to have the sleeve manufacture install the sleeves.

Also, I'm using Golden Eagle, just did a rebuild and bored out to 84.5mm. I've had this block for almost six years.

GE is the place to go. They have great prices/costumer service and lifetime warranty on sleeves sinking.
