SHG tries wRong Wheel Drive...SHG_Mike's S2000 Build
Well, after many months of debate and having even bought a different car only to sell it I have settled on a 2001 Silvestone S2000 to build into a funday/weekend warrior/ track toy for myself.
About the car: 2001 SSM AP1 87k two owner in fantastic condition, and the best part all OEM STOCK. Factory wheels with Bridgestone RE-01R fronts and RE-11 rears
Phase one of the project will consist of full suspension tear down with all new bushings bearings and fresh powder coat. 3 way adjustable dampers will be installed along with some wider wheels with some 255/40 17 street rubber. Brakes will be refreshed with rebuilt calipers and new pads and rotors for street and circuit use. The interior plans will consist of new HR buckets/harnesses with a custom fabricated SHG rollbar to fit a OEM style hardtop. I may add an exhaust for fun but thats about it for over this winter. The goal is to keep it fun safe and reliable to get out there and drive. Aero/exterior and maybe a few bolt ons will follow in the coming summer and years.
The car I sold to get into this project...

The first pictures I saw of the car online

First day of ownership

Got it registered and hit the road

Quick impromptu shoot after work to test the new 5s camera abilities

The headlights after 12 years were a little oxidized and yellow so I hit them with some plastic X and it worked wonders...

Not really an upgrade, but a side step

Yea I was impressed. For heavy oxidation some wet sanding should be used, but this is a great last polishing step.
I'd have to agree with Brice... however I was never a big fan of the Mugen SI or any 8th gen for that matter. If you ever plan on trading the seats, rugs, and door cards for a black interior tho.... let me know
Meh, Ive driven formula cars, mazda cup cars, and numerous other 'high end' cars on a track as well so I have plenty to compare to. Not apples to apples but the FA/FD chassis is faster than the S in stock type R form. Upgrade in terms of lap times pound for pound? Maybe, but the cars as a whole? No way.
This doesnt need to be an argument, we all have our preferences

Nice find! I picked up the exact same color combo back in march, my third s2000.
I gotta go with Brice though, I traded my second S in on an FA and there's a reason why I'm back into an S after only 6 months of owning the SI. I still have the Civic but it doesn't feel as good to drive as my stock S.
Good luck with your plans with it.

Yes the hype R ended up being too much of a project for my life right now and I never really fell in love with the car... Such is life, shes gone and I am very happy with my final choice
I took her our to the local Cars and coffee event, and enjoyed myself so much I forgot to take pictures...
Sunrise in the garage...
